As you may be aware, berry season was temporarily interrupted by the responsibilities of caring for elderly parents. Too many hospital stays, doctor appointments, falls, etc. have made it impossible to open for UPick. Family comes first. Mike’s stepdad, a gentle giant that we loved for 20 years, passed away last week. We will miss him immensely. With his death, came many decisions to make regarding my mother-in-law. We moved her into a wonderful assisted living facility this week. Please pray that she finds moments of joy in the midst of this season of grief.
On a good note, our very capable children and friends kept up with the growing side of the farm. We have been picking the blackberries, and have them available at the Norman Farm Market on Saturdays, 8-12. The market is at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, and we hope you will come see us there! In addition, we are producing beautiful vine-ripened tomatoes, yellow squash, cucumbers, peppers, onions, potatoes, and cherry tomatoes! Coming soon are blackeyed peas, melons, and sweet potatoes. In the fall, we will once again offer sunflowers and pumpkins!
We are determining the feasibility of opening for UPick on the blackberries – and will let you know if we decide to do so.
We Thank-you all for the kind words, offers of assistance, and expressions of sympathy during this hard time. We are so thankful for the peace we feel through Jesus Christ, and the assurance of eternity, where we will be reunited with Doug!
